Gingrich: Hillary would be worse than Obama
Newt Gingrich, the former Republican Speaker who ran for president in 2012, suggested in a new interview Wednesday that Hillary Clinton would be a worse president than Barack Obama.
“I think in the end, while Obama is a radical, and I obviously think he is very dangerous on foreign policy because he is so incompetent, he is not venal and he doesn’t corrupt the entire system,” Gingrich said in an interview with The New York Times.
{mosads}“Having the Clintons back in the White House would be like having a very bad mayor running a very corrupt city,” Gingrich added, referring to the 2016 Democratic presidential front-runner.
Gingrich, who pursued a White House bid during the year Obama sought reelection, was Speaker during former President Bill Clinton’s administration.
The longtime congressman from Georgia praised the “first-rate” crop of 2016 GOP presidential candidates but has ruled out making another White House bid.
“It’s too big a mountain,” he told the newspaper. “You have to be honest about what you’re capable of doing.”
Gingrich, who turns 72 next month, will on June 1 join law firm Dentons, which became the world’s largest law firm this year, as a public policy adviser on regulatory issues.
