Poll: Clinton leads Sanders in New Hampshire
A new poll finds Hillary Clinton getting a post-debate bounce in New Hampshire, where she leads Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) 41 percent to 33 percent.
The survey from the left-leaning Public Policy Polling shows Clinton has an eight-point lead over Sanders with usual primary voters. Vice President Biden, who is expected to announce a decision soon on entering the race, is further behind at 11 percent.
{mosads}The results indicate a 6 point increase for Clinton in New Hampshire since an August poll from PPP, while Sanders has dropped 9 points since then.
While Clinton holds an 8 point lead over Sanders in the latest PPP poll, a pair of other surveys conducted after last week’s Democratic presidential debate have found other results.
A Boston Herald/Franklin Pierce University poll released Monday found Sanders with an 8 point lead, 38 to 30 percent, while a Boston Globe/Suffolk University poll had Clinton with a 2 point lead, 37 to 35 percent. Meanwhile, Biden had 19 percent support in the first poll and 11 percent in the second.
Results on the Republican side of the presidential race are less mixed.
Donald Trump continues to lead the crowded GOP field with 28 percent support in the latest survey, though that is down 7 points since the last PPP poll conducted in August.
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) has surged to 12 percent support now, with retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson at 11 percent, Ohio Gov. John Kasich at 10 percent and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 9 percent.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and businesswoman Carly Fiorina also follow closely, at 8 percent and 7 percent, respectively.
The latest PPP survey of 393 usual Democratic primary voters was conducted Oct. 16-18 via landlines and cellphones with a margin of error of 4.9 points. The margin of error for the 417 usual GOP primary voters is 4.8 points.
