Fiorina: Benghazi hearing confirms Hillary ‘lied’

Republican presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina says the 11-hour Benghazi hearing on Thursday proves that former secretary of State Hillary Clinton lied about the role of an anti-Islam video in the 2012 terrorist attack in Libya.

“I think anyone who listened to those Benghazi hearings realizes that she knew this was a terrorist attack in Benghazi and she nevertheless lied to the American people about it,” Fiorina told host John Catsimatidis on “The Cats Roundtable” on New York’s AM-970.

{mosads}Fiorina also said Clinton’s only strength in the presidential election is her gender.

“I think it’s worth remembering, though, that Hillary Clinton is running on a platform of being the first woman president. That is her platform,” she said.

The former Hewlett-Packard CEO said she is the best candidate to take on Clinton in a general election because she will force her to run on the issues.

“If I am our nominee, I will force her to have to run on her track record, or lack thereof,” Fiorina said. “She’ll have to run on her policy. She’ll have to run on her mistakes, for which I am prepared to hold her to account.”

“And if we can force her to play on that ground, then we can win.”

Fiorina said she is “pleased” with her progress in the race for the Republican nomination, noting that she did not make the main debate stage at the first primary debate in August, but is entering the third one this week in fourth place.

“So, I’m very, very pleased with our progress and our momentum, but nevertheless, I still need to introduce myself to about 40 percent of those who are watching who don’t know me and don’t know I’m running for president,” she said.

Fiorina has been praised for her performances at the first two Republican primary debates.

The third debate this week will be hosted by CNBC from the University of Colorado’s Boulder campus.
