Trump floats $5M donation to participate in CNN debate
Donald Trump is proposing that he be paid $5 million by CNN to show up at the next Republican presidential debate.
{mosads}Trump floated the figure, which he said he would donate to wounded service members or veterans, during a campaign rally in Georgia on Monday.
The celebrity real estate tycoon cited the high ratings for the debate CNN hosted in September. All four GOP debates have been a ratings bonanza for networks.
“How about I tell CNN, who doesn’t treat me properly … I’m not gonna do the next debate, OK?” Trump asked the crowd.
“I won’t do the debate unless they pay me $5 million, all of which goes to wounded warriors or goes to vets,” Trump continued.
The businessman has sparred with the host networks and led a charge with rival GOP candidate Ben Carson last month for a change in format for the debates.
“The problem is, they’ll say, ‘Trump is chicken,'” Trump said of his latest idea. “One thing I’m not is chicken, OK?”
Trump remains atop polls for the GOP nomination. The next GOP debate hosted by CNN will take place Dec. 15 in Las Vegas.
