Hillary: Trump has a ‘penchant for sexism’

Hillary Clinton on Tuesday responded to attacks from Donald Trump, saying the Republican presidential front-runner has a habit of making sexist remarks about women.

{mosads}“I think he has to answer for what he says, and I assume that others will make the larger point about his language,” the favorite to win the Democratic nomination said in an interview with The Des Moines Register. “It’s not the first time he’s demonstrated a penchant for sexism.”

At a rally in Michigan on Monday, Trump said the former secretary of State “got scholonged” when she lost to then-Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) in the 2008 Democratic primary race.

The billionaire businessman defended his rhetoric, saying the Yiddish term for “penis” is not vulgar. But Clinton denounced the comment as another example of “hateful, incendiary rhetoric.”

“I really deplore the tone of his campaign, the inflammatory rhetoric that he is using to divide people, and his going after groups of people with hateful, incendiary rhetoric,” she said in the interview.

Trump has previously been accused of misogyny, when he said Fox News host Megyn Kelly had “blood coming out of her whatever” after the first GOP primary debate.

He also mocked Clinton’s “disgusting” bathroom break during Saturday’s Democratic primary debate.

“Nothing really surprises me anymore,” Clinton said of Trump’s rhetoric. “I don’t know that he has any boundaries at all.

“His bigotry, bluster, his bullying have become his campaign,” she continued. “And he has to keep sort of upping the stakes and going further.”
