Trump blames ‘Two Corinthians’ gaffe on Tony Perkins
Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump late Wednesday pinned blame for his scriptural gaffe — saying “2 Corinthians” instead of “Second Corinthians” — on evangelical activist Tony Perkins.
{mosads}“Tony Perkins wrote that out for me. He actually wrote out the 2, he wrote out the number 2 Corinthians,” Trump said on “CNN Tonight with Don Lemon.” “I took exactly what Tony said, and I said, ‘Well, Tony has to know better than anybody.’ ”
The slip-up drew laughs from the crowd at evangelical Liberty University and led to attacks on the billionaire businessman’s faith.
But Trump said he has since heard from “a lot of people” who tell him that he was actually correct.
“It’s a very small deal, but a lot of people in different sections of the world say 2, and I’ve had many, many people say to me,” he said.
“My mother, as you know, was from Scotland, and they say 2,” he added.
