George W. Bush casts Jeb as steady hand in new radio ad

Former President George W. Bush is featured in a new radio ad ahead of the South Carolina presidential primary, portraying his brother, Jeb Bush, as a steady leader.

{mosads}”We live in troubled times, with the military deployed around the world. We need a strong leader with experience, ideas and resolve,” the elder Bush brother says in the 60-second ad.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that Jeb Bush will be a great commander in chief for our military,” Bush continues, mentioning Jeb’s handling of “crises as governor of Florida.”

“He did so with resolve, steadiness and a calmness necessary in a good leader,” Bush adds.

The ad for Jeb’s campaign will air statewide starting Wednesday in South Carolina, which holds the next round of voting in the GOP primary after Iowa and New Hampshire.

George W. Bush has appeared at fundraisers for his brother and allowed his name to be used in fundraising emails, but the radio ad is the first time he appears in a spot for Bush’s campaign.

The former president recorded an ad for Bush-allied super-PAC Right to Rise, released last week, where he similarly cast his brother as a strong leader in the face of terrorism.

The former president is also expected to campaign for his brother in the Palmetto State in the days before its Feb. 20 primary.
