Trump: Campaign aide accused in altercations is ‘spirited’
Donald Trump is giving his top campaign aide “credit for having spirit” after Corey Lewandowski was involved in an incident with a protester at one of the GOP presidential front-runner’s rallies.
{mosads}On Saturday, Lewandowski, Trump’s campaign manager, appeared to grab and pull a protester by his collar at a rally in Tucson, Ariz.
“I give him credit for having spirit. He wanted them to take down those horrible, profanity-laced signs,” Trump said on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday. “The police were a little bit lax, and he had signs. They had signs up in that arena that were horrendous.”
In a statement, the Trump campaign said it was a man to Lewandowski’s left who pulled the protestor back.
Lewandowski reportedly also grabbed the arm of former Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields during a press conference earlier this month and yanked her down.
The campaign also denied that claim, calling it “entirely false.”
