Graham: Kasich is the most electable, but can’t win nomination

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said on Sunday that he thinks Republican presidential hopeful John Kasich is the most electable GOP candidate, but that the Ohio governor does not have a path to the nomination.

“John Kasich is the most electable Republican,” Graham said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

{mosads}”I don’t think he has a chance to win at the convention because it’s an outsider year.”

Graham described Kasich as an insider, adding that most of the delegates are looking for an outsider.

“I love John Kasich, but if he stays in this race, or they don’t coordinate the efforts between [Ted] Cruz and Kasich, we’re going to wind up giving the nomination to [Donald] Trump,” he said.

Graham backed Cruz last week, calling the Texas senator the best alternative to beat Trump, the GOP front-runner. He called on Kasich on Sunday to work with Cruz to deny Trump the nomination.

“John, if I thought you could win, I’d be behind you, because you are the most electable candidate,” he said.

Graham said if Kasich isn’t willing to work with Cruz, he will hurt the party.

“Kasich, going to Utah, you’re making it harder for Ted to get 50 percent,” he said.

“Work with Ted to deny Trump the 1,237.”
