Cruz holds 10-point lead in second Wisconsin poll
Ted Cruz leads his Republican presidential rival Donald Trump by 10 points in a second poll ahead of Tuesday’s primary in Wisconsin.
Cruz is supported by 42 percent of likely GOP primary voters in the Fox Business poll released Thursday night, followed by Trump, at 32 percent, and John Kasich, at 19 percent.
{mosads}The Texas senator leads Trump 46 to 33 percent among those who will “definitely” vote, according to the poll. Cruz has a 19-point lead among women and 5-point edge among men.
Self-described “very” conservative voters also boost Cruz in the poll, with 61 percent of those voters backing Cruz compared to 25 percent backing Trump.
It’s the second poll this week finding Cruz up by 10 points, following a Marquette Law School poll released Wednesday.
Trump has touted a third poll from the left-leaning Public Policy Polling outlet, which showed Cruz leading Trump by just 1 point, 38 to 37 percent.
Cruz is hoping for a win in Wisconsin as part of the broad strategy to keep Trump below the necessary 1,237 delegates to secure the nomination, forcing a contested convention in July.
The Fox Business survey of 742 likely GOP primary voters was conducted March 28–30 via landlines and cellphones with a margin of error of 3.5 points.
