Cruz campaign raises $12.5 million in March

Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign announced March was a win for fundraising, bringing in more than $12.5 million, the most of any month during his run.

The Texas senator is best-positioned to stop GOP front-runner Donald Trump from winning enough delegates to clinch the nomination before this summer’s Republican National Convention, and many former party establishment foes are lining up behind him.

{mosads}The campaign had nearly 240,000 donations, averaging about $52, in March, according to a statement released by the campaign. To date, Cruz has raised $78 million.

“This is yet another sign that conservatives are coalescing behind our campaign,” the statement said. “The path to victory in the nomination and winning the general election is by standing up for hardworking men and women of America who have been left behind by Washington.”

In February, the campaign received $11.8 million in individual contributions, according to FEC filings

Still, these figures are a fraction of that raised by Democrats. Hillary Clinton raised about $29.5 million, and rival Bernie Sanders took in a record $44 million in March.
