Clinton: ‘I expect to be the nominee’

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton said she expects that she’ll have enough delegates to secure the Democratic nomination ahead of the convention.

“I intend to have the number of delegates that are required to be nominated,” Clinton said on CNN’s “State of the Union” in an interview that aired Sunday.

{mosads}Clinton responded to a question about whether she is preparing for a scenario in which neither she nor her rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), entered the Democratic National Convention with the necessary number of delegates.

Clinton pointed to her lead in the popular vote and in pledged delegates. 

“I feel good about the upcoming contests, and I expect to be the nominee,” Clinton said.

Clinton said she hopes to have a unified Democratic Party so that “we can turn our attention to the Republican nominee.”

“Either Donald Trump or [Texas Sen.] Ted Cruz would be a terrible choice for America,” Clinton said.

“We need to run a unified Democratic Party campaign to bring as many people on our side as possible. And I’ve been bringing together a broad, inclusive coalition, and I think I will continue to be able to do that.”

Sanders on Saturday extended his winning streak to Wyoming, giving him seven wins in the last eight contests.
