Poll: Trump up by 20 in Connecticut

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump leads his closest primary rival by 20 points in Connecticut, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released early Wednesday.

{mosads}Trump is supported by 48 percent of likely GOP primary voters in the state, with John Kasich picking up 28 percent and Ted Cruz picking up 19 percent.

A full quarter of respondents, 25 percent, indicated they may change their minds before Tuesday’s primary, which comes a week after Trump sailed to victory on his home turf in New York.

On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton leads rival Bernie Sanders in the state, 51 to 42 percent.

Connecticut is one of five states holding voting on April 26, an opportunity for Trump to extend his lead or for Cruz, who is in second place, to make strides toward ensuring a contested Republican National Convention in July.

The survey of 823 likely GOP primary voters was conducted April 12–18 via landlines and cellphones with a margin of error of 3.4 points. The margin of error for the 1,037 likely Democratic primary voters is 3 points.
