RNC to discuss holding more debates

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said Tuesday the committee will discuss the possibility of holding more presidential primary debates ahead of the Republican National Convention in July.

“We’re working on that,” Priebus said in an interview with radio host Michael Medved. “We had a lull obviously since the last debate. We were going at about one a week … and it was getting a little exhausting.”

{mosads}Priebus said the committee would discuss future debate options during its meeting this week in Florida.

The last Republican debate took place March 10. Another debate slated for March 21 was canceled when GOP front-runner Donald Trump and Ohio Gov. John Kasich backed out.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has been eager to face Trump in a one-on-one debate, but the front-runner seems reluctant, saying last month, “We’ve had enough debates, in my opinion.”
