Clinton campaign touts endorsements from business leaders

Hillary Clinton’s campaign on Thursday released a list of corporate leaders from both parties that have endorsed her, pushing back on Donald Trump’s claims of support in the business world.

{mosads}Included on the list is Dan Akerson, a former CEO of General Motors, Nextel and General Instrument. Akerson said in a statement provided by the campaign that he has always voted Republican but believes Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, isn’t qualified to be president.

“Serving as the leader of the free world requires effective leadership, sound judgment, a steady hand and most importantly, the temperament to deal with crises large and small,” Akerson said. “Donald Trump lacks each of these characteristics.  [Presumptive Democratic nominee] Hillary Clinton has the experience and judgment to serve as an effective Commander in Chief.  In this election, I will cast my ballot for Secretary Clinton.”

“I’ve supported every Republican Presidential candidate since 1976, and was honored to work for two of them,” added AT&T Vice President Jim Cicconi in the statement. “But this year I think it’s vital to put our country’s wellbeing ahead of party.  Hillary Clinton is experienced, qualified, and will make a fine President.  The alternative, I fear, would set our Nation on a very dark path.”
