Donald Trump is pouncing on the FBI’s decision not to recommend criminal charges against Hillary Clinton, saying it is evidence of a “rigged” system.
{mosads}In a statement released hours after the FBI’s decision, Trump said the investigation’s results were politically motivated, pointing to former President Bill Clinton’s meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch last week.
He also noted that the FBI interviewed the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee over a holiday weekend and that President Obama was campaigning with her on the day that FBI Director James Comey made the announcement.
“Folks – the system is rigged,” Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, said. “The normal punishment, in this case, would include losing authority to handle classified information, and that too disqualifies Hillary Clinton from being President.
“The final jury will be the American people, and they will issue the verdict on her corruption, incompetence, and bad judgment on November 8th.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Comey announced in a press briefing at the bureau’s headquarters that he would not be recommending criminal charges.
Still, Comey described Clinton’s use of a private email server and her handling of classified information during her time in Obama’s administration as “extremely careless.”
Seizing on those comments, Trump blasted Clinton over the director’s findings, including the revelation that 113 emails on the server contained information that was classified at the time they were sent — 22 of which were classified as top secret.
“The FBI Director laid out today a detailed case of how Hillary Clinton compromised the safety of the American people by storing highly classified information on a private email server with no security,” Trump said. “He confirmed that her email could easily have been hacked by hostile actors, and confirmed that those she emailed with were hacked.
“Our adversaries almost certainly have a blackmail file on Hillary Clinton, and this fact alone disqualifies her from service,” he said.
Noting the classified emails and blasting her for her record at State, Trump added, “Because of our rigged system that holds the American people to one standard and people like Hillary Clinton to another, it does not look like she will be facing the criminal charges that she deserves.”
