Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has a 13 point lead over her likely GOP rival, Donald Trump, in a Tuesday poll from Reuters/Ipsos.
{mosads}The poll showed 46 percent of likely voters supported Clinton, while 33 percent said they’d vote for Trump.
The survey, conducted July 1-5, comes out the same day the FBI said it would not recommend pursuing charges against Clinton for her use of a private email server during her time as secretary of State. FBI Director James Comey called Clinton “extremely careless” handling of classified information.
Trump’s support among likely voters in the Reuters/Ipsos poll was about 10 points below what 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney received at the same time in 2012.
Among those expressing support for Clinton, nearly half said they were backing her because, “I don’t want Donald Trump to win.” Thirty-nine percent “agree with her positions,” while about 13 percent said they “like her personally.”
The online national poll of 1,441 American adults had a credibility interval of 3 points.
In another poll released Tuesday, Clinton has 41 percent to Trump’s 40 percent, according to a Morning Consult survey.
According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, Clinton is ahead 4.6 points.
