Poll: Clinton holds slim lead nationally
Hillary Clinton holds a slim 2-point lead over Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, according to the latest national poll.
Clinton, the Democratic nominee, is supported by 42 percent of likely voters in the George Washington University battleground poll released Wednesday, while Trump gets 40 percent in the four-way matchup.
{mosads}Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson gets 11 percent in the poll, while Green Party nominee Jill Stein has 3 percent. Five percent remain undecided.
It’s the latest national poll indicating a slim lead for Clinton and comes on the heels of a CNN-ORC poll released Tuesday that found Trump ahead by 2 points. Still, Clinton has maintained a lead in battleground states that will likely decide the election.
Clinton is viewed favorably by 43 percent of likely voters in the new GWU poll, while 56 percent view her unfavorably. Favorability numbers for Trump are slightly worse, with 38 percent viewing Trump favorably and 58 percent viewing him unfavorably.
Top issues listed by voters surveyed included the economy, “dysfunction in government,” jobs, foreign threats, healthcare and illegal immigration.
The survey of 1,000 likely voters was conducted Aug. 28 to Sept. 1, with a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.
