Poll: Clinton has 6-point national lead over Trump

Hillary Clinton has a 6-point lead over Donald Trump in a new NBC News/SurveyMonkey weekly election tracking poll.

{mosads}Clinton is favored by 46 percent of likely voters while Trump is backed by 40 percent. Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson is supported by 8 percent and Green Party nominee Jill Stein is backed by 4 percent of likely voters.

In a head-to-head matchup, Clinton’s lead over her Republican rival increases to 8 points, 51 to 43 percent.

The Democratic nominee has an 18-point lead over Trump among women, pollsters found. Clinton also leads Trump among women of every age group.

Trump has a 7-point lead over his Democratic rival among men. He is much more popular among men ages 45 and older than younger men, who are more divided.

Trump has an advantage among likely voters without a college degree, 46 to 40 percent. Clinton has a significant lead among likely voters who are college graduates, 56 to 30 percent.

The survey was conducted from Oct. 10 to 16 among 24,804 likely voters. The margin of error is 1 percent.

According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, Clinton has a 7-point lead over her Republican rival, 46 to 39 percent.

Several recent polls have shown the Democratic nominee maintaining her lead over Trump.
