Obama appears in down-ballot ads in Illinois and Nevada

President Obama is lending a hand to down-ballot Democrats in Illinois and Nevada, starring in ads for both a House and Senate candidate.

{mosads}In an ad for former Rep. Brad Schneider (D), Obama warns that “this is not your typical election.

“It’s not just a choice between parties or policies. It’s about who we are as a people. Vote for Brad Schneider and the Democrats, so we can keep America’s promise to our seniors, protect our kids and our cops from gun violence, and preserve a woman’s right to choose.”

It is the first time this election cycle that Obama has appeared in a general election TV ad for a congressional candidate.

Schneider is looking to defeat incumbent Bob Dold in Illinois’s 10th Congressional District.

Obama also appeared in a radio ad urging Nevadans to vote for Democratic Senate candidate Catherine Cortez Masto, who is facing GOP Rep. Joe Heck.

That seat will be vacated by Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who is retiring, and is considered a toss up race as Democrats look to take control of the Senate.

“In this election, Republicans are running to take us backward and undo all that we’ve done together. That’s why it’s so important to get out and vote, not just for president, but for Senate, too,” Obama says in the ad.
