Trump seeks top-secret security clearances for his kids

President-elect Donald Trump is seeking top-secret security clearances for his adult children, CBS News reported Monday.

{mosads}CBS News said the real estate mogul has asked the White House if he can obtain such clearances for Ivanka, Eric and Donald Jr., as well as his son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

But a transition team official told the presidential pool reporter Monday night that the president-elect did not request such a step and said the Trump children have not started filling out paperwork for such clearances.

“That’s not something I’m expecting right now,” the Trump transition official said.

CBS reports that Trump’s children plan to run his businesses while he serves and may also act as unpaid national security advisers, because he isn’t permitted to hire those related to him.

Trump’s children are currently serving on his presidential transition team.

The clearances and multiple roles could bring up potential conflicts of interest within the incoming administration.

Trump’s lawyer announced last week that the businessman’s children would operate a “blind trust” for their father.

Critics say this blurs the line between Trump and his business ties, but his advisers dismiss this notion and argue that he wouldn’t make decisions solely to benefit his companies while in office.
