Ohio school district holds lockdown after student shoots himself
An Ohio school district went on lockdown Tuesday after a student shot himself, according to Cleveland CBS affiliate WOIO.
A seventh-grader from Jackson Memorial Middle School was hospitalized after apparently shooting himself in the men’s restroom at around 8 a.m., Jackson Township police said.
Police said the wound was self-inflicted, but it remains unclear whether it was intentional or accidental. The student’s condition is currently unknown. No other students or faculty were injured in the shooting, according to WOIO’s report. {mosads}
The school district announced the lockdown at the middle school on Tuesday morning, and canceled classes at the district’s four elementary schools. High schoolers in the district were also evacuated.
Law enforcement authorities are currently working to release students from the middle school.
