Trump slams Starbucks for simpler red cups
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump suggested boycotting Starbucks after the coffeehouse chain opted for a simpler holiday cup.
“Did you read about Starbucks?” Trump asked supporters during a rally in Springfield, Ill., on Monday, according to the Washington Post. “No more ‘Merry Christmas’ at Starbucks. No more.”
{mosads}Starbucks releases its traditional red holiday cup each November. Past designs have included imagery such as snowflakes, snowmen and Christmas trees. But this year, Starbucks opted for a red cup sans imagery, which has caused a backlash among some Christians, who say it’s a blow against Christmas, according to the Los Angeles Times.
“Maybe we should boycott Starbucks,” Trump said.
“If I become president, we’re all going to be saying ‘Merry Christmas’ again. That I can tell you. That I can tell you! Unbelievable,” Trump added.
