Obama pleads with kids to study computing

President Obama whose political fortunes were sent reeling by the botched ObamaCare website, on Monday urged the nation’s kids to study computer science.

“Learning these skills isn’t just important for your future, it’s important for our country’s future,” Obama said in a video message supporting Computer Science Education Week.

Obama in the video pleaded with America’s children to step up and improve the nation’s pool of computing talent.

“Don’t just buy a new video game, make one,” he said. “Don’t just download a new app, help design one.”

The president knows all too well the frustration of software falling short. The ObamaCare website had required hundreds of repairs since debuting in October, despite hundreds of millions of dollars paid to U.S. contractors to set it up.

The Computer Science Education Week is sponsored by the Computing in the Core coalition of associations and by Code.org.
