Paul jokes he might spy on Dems with new drone

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) says Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) gave him a drone for his birthday this week and joked he might use it to spy on Democrats.

{mosads}“The senator, my good friend, Sen. Mike Lee from Utah, gave me a drone,” Paul said Wednesday night on Fox News’s “On the Record.”

“You may wonder, what am I going to do with a drone? Well, it’s got a laser. And I’ve been trying to get invited to the Democrat lunch for about a year now and they won’t invite me. … So you know what? I think I’m going to send my drone in.”

Host Greta van Susteren asked Paul if it carried a camera and audio capability.

“We haven’t installed that yet. We have to check on the rules. But we’re hopeful.”

Paul turned 51 on Tuesday. He brought the drone to the Fox News newsroom to fly it around, host Bret Baier showed on his Instagram feed.

In March, Paul spoke in a nearly 13-hour-long filibuster about the use of drones in the United States. He said drone strikes should not be used against people suspected of terrorism on American soil.

Paul was holding up the nomination of CIA Director John Brennan.
