Poll: GOP millennials like Ryan in 2016

Likely millennial GOP voters would back Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) for president, according to a new poll from Fusion.

The TV network surveyed likely millennial voters, a relatively small portion of millennials overall.

{mosads}Of the subset of respondents who said they were Republicans, 16 percent said they would choose Ryan if the primary was held today. Eleven percent chose former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and 9 percent said they would favor Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.).

Twenty-five percent of those polled said they did not know who they would vote for or did not answer.

When an identical question was asked of millennial Democrats, they favored former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by a wide margin. More than half of those surveyed said they would support Clinton.

Clinton also has strong support among black and Hispanic young people, the poll found. More than 60 percent of young Hispanic likely voters support Clinton, as do more than 70 percent of young black likely voters.

The survey polled likely voters between the ages of 18 and 34. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.83 percentage points. The interviews that contributed to the poll were conducted between Sept. 12 and 22 of this year. The poll was conducted in English and Spanish.
