Report: Iran’s president says nuke deal ‘certain’

Iran’s president said Monday that the country is certain to reach a deal with the West over its nuclear program. He also said he thought that such a deal would happen by late November.

“A nuclear settlement is certain,” President Hassan Rouhani said on a live television broadcast, according to Reuters.

{mosads}Representatives from Iran, the United States and the European Union are currently in talks about how to address the controversial program. They face a Nov. 24 deadline, which Rouhani said he believed they would meet.

“I think a final settlement can be achieved in these remaining 40 days. We will not return to the situation a year ago. The world is tired and wants it to end, resolved through negotiations,” he said, while cautioning that the differences could not be resolved “overnight.”

Rouhani is considered a moderate who was elected just over a year ago. He has promised to work with the West — making his presidency a contrast with that of his predecessor, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
