US at war with terrorists who ‘corrupt’ Islam, Holder says
Attorney General Eric Holder said the United States is at war with terrorists who pervert the Muslim faith in order to justify violence.
{mosads}Asked on ABC’s “This Week” if the U.S. is at war with “radical Islam,” Holder said the country is at war “with those who would commit terrorist attacks and who would corrupt the Islamic faith … to try to justify their terrorist actions.”
“That’s who we are at war with,” Holder said. “We are determined to take the fight to them to prevent them from engaging in these kinds of activities.”
The exchange with “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos came in response to a comment from French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, who said Saturday that his country is at war with radical Islam.
Holder gave the interview from Paris, where world leaders marched in solidarity with the French. Officials are also set to hold high-level intelligence talks.
On CNN’s “State of the Union,” Holder said Sunday that the United States is at risk of facing attacks similar to the ones that struck Paris last week, killing 17 people.
