The White House has set up a virtual condolence book for the public to pay their respects to the Biden family following the death of Vice President Biden’s son, Beau Biden, who died after a long battle with brain cancer.

{mosads}The vice president and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, are “deeply appreciative” of the outpouring of support they have received, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said.

The messages of support “have meant a great deal to the vice president and his family,” Earnest added.

President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama visited the Bidens at their home at the Naval Observatory in Washington on Sunday, the day after Beau Biden’s death.

The 46-year-old served as attorney general of Delaware. He left behind a wife, a son and a daughter.

On Saturday, Obama said, “Beau lived a life that was full; a life that mattered; a life that reflected their reverence for family.”

“Beau Biden believed the best of us all,” the president said in a statement. “For him, and for his family, we swing our lanterns higher.”
