Jennifer Lawrence suggests in a new interview that celebrity real estate tycoon Donald Trump occupying the White House would be disastrous for everyone.
“If Donald Trump becomes president, that will be the end of the world,” “The Hunger Games” actress told
Entertainment Weekly for a story published this week.
{mosads}”I genuinely believe that reality television has reached the ultimate place where now even things like this might just be for entertainment,” Lawrence continued of Trump’s 2016 Republican campaign. “It’s either that or it’s Hillary’s brilliant idea.
“I was watching him on the campaign trail and one guy said, ‘I love Donald Trump because he’s saying everything I’m thinking and I just can’t say it because of the PC factor.’ And I’m thinking, ‘You are absolutely right. That’s who I want representing my country, somebody politically incorrect. That will just be perfect.’”
Liam Hemsworth, her co-star in the young adult fiction film franchise, agreed with Lawrence that a Trump White House would spell the end of the world.
“It’s a publicity stunt,” Josh Hutcherson, another lead actor in the popular film series, told ET, adding he couldn’t believe Trump’s candidacy is real.
Trump has been at the top of the polls for more than two months as the GOP field now stands at 15 candidates.
The breadth of the field has led some, including President Obama, to compare it to a type of real-life “Hunger Games” competition.
“They’ll have enough [candidates] for an actual ‘Hunger Games,’” Obama said to applause during a speech in July, just weeks after Trump entered the race.
