Trump: Bezos wields Post as ‘political instrument’ against me
Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump claimed Thursday night that billionaire Jeff Bezos was using The Washington Post as a “political instrument” to go after him.
{mosads}Trump said during an interview on Fox News’s “Hannity” that he’s been fielding calls hourly from reporters at the newspaper “asking ridiculous questions.”
Trump likened the Post to a “toy” of Bezos, the founder of Amazon.
“Amazon is getting away with murder tax-wise,” Trump said. “He’s using The Washington Post for power so that the politicians in Washington don’t tax Amazon like they should be taxed.”
“We can’t let him get away with it,” Trump added.
Trump was responding to a question about reports of the newspaper having 20 staffers assigned to Trump and rumored plans for a book about him.
“He’s using that as a political instrument to try and stop anti-trust, which he thinks I believe he’s anti-trust,” Trump said of Bezos.
Trump made a similar claim last year, accusing Bezos of owning the newspaper in an effort to reduce his tax burden.
Bezos responded by suggesting the candidate be sent to space.
