Roof won’t use mental health defense in sentencing

Dylann Roof, who was found guilty Thursday of murdering nine people at a historically black church in Charleston, S.C., does not want jurors to consider his mental health when he is sentenced, Associated Press reported Saturday.

Roof decided not to allow mental health experts to testify on his behalf because he believes psychology is “a Jewish invention.”

{mosads}”It is a Jewish invention and does nothing but invent diseases and tell people they have problems when they don’t,” Roof wrote in a journal retrieved by investigators.

The jury will convene in January to determine whether the 22-year-old Roof should be sentenced to death.

On Thursday, Roof was convicted on 33 federal charges for killing the nine black churchgoers last year.

Roof, a white supremacist, confessed to the crimes to investigators shortly after he was arrested.
