Kimberly Guilfoyle: ‘Tough to beat’ working at Fox

Fox News responded Tuesday to reports that “The Five” co-host Kimberly Guilfoyle is being considered to replace Sean Spicer as White House press secretary, bringing up that Guilfoyle is “under a long term contract with the network.”

“Kimberly is a valued member of the FOX News primetime lineup, and is under a long term contract with the network,” a network spokesperson said.

Guilfoyle, 48, also released a statement on Tuesday to address the possibility through a spokesperson.

“As I stated in the interview, I really love what I do and my job co-hosting The Five is tough to beat,” she said.

{mosads}Guilfoyle, a former prosecuting attorney, told the Bay Area News Group that a “number of people” in the Trump administration have approached her about replacing the embattled Spicer. 

“I think it’d be a fascinating job,” Guilfoyle said. “It’s a challenging job, and you need someone really determined and focused, a great communicator in there with deep knowledge to be able to handle that position.”

The former legal analyst for “Anderson Cooper 360” made several comments on air last week about the job but never mentioned herself as a possibility to replace Spicer.

“If you want to be successful and do communications with President Trump, you have to be someone who he actually wants to spend a little bit of time with,” she said. “You’ve got to insist on getting in front of POTUS, talk to him, and have like five, six minutes with him before you go out there and take the podium, and otherwise you’re driving blind.”

Guilfoyle stated her relationship with Trump as a reason why she could succeed as White House spokeswoman. 

“I think I have a very good relationship with the president,” she said. “I think I enjoy a very straightforward and authentic, very genuine relationship, one that’s built on trust and integrity, and I think that’s imperative for success in that position.”
