MetLife ends discount program with NRA

The insurance giant MetLife is ending a discount program with the National Rifle Association (NRA), becoming the latest business to break ties with the pro-gun group after mass shooting last week at a Florida high school.

“We value all our customers but we have decided to end our discount program with the NRA,” the company tweeted Friday

MetLife previously offered NRA members discounts on insurance for RVs, boats and motorcycles, among other things.

Several businesses have cut ties with the NRA following the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., that killed 17 people.

Students who survived the shooting have mobilized and called on politicians to refuse donations from the gun rights group.

Car rental companies National, Enterprise and Alamo announced Thursday that they would end similar discount programs for NRA members.
