George HW Bush released from hospital
Former President George H.W. Bush was released from the hospital on Friday after a nearly two-week stay for an infection, a spokesman for the former president said.
“President @GeorgeHWBush was discharged from @MethodistHosp after treatment for an infection,” the spokesman, Jim McGrath, tweeted. “His doctors report he is doing well and is happy to return home.”

Bush was hospitalized on April 22 for an infection that had spread to his blood.
The hospitalization came the day after the funeral of his wife, former first lady Barbara Bush, who died last month after announcing that she would cease medical treatment for chronic conditions.

The former president was hospitalized twice last year.
Shortly after his father’s most recent release from the hospital, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) wrote on Twitter that the former president was “doing well and headed home.”
“Thanks for all of your prayers. Dad is doing well and headed home,” the younger Bush tweeted.

The former president was eager to be released from the hospital, saying even during his stay that he was looking forward to returning to the Bush family’s estate in Kennebunkport, Maine, for the summer.
