Trump aides fire back at Omarosa: She’s ‘obsessed’ with Trump N-word tape
Two Trump aides fired back at former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman after a recording was released appearing to show them discussing an alleged tape on which President Trump used the N-word.
In a joint statement shared to Twitter on Tuesday morning, former Trump campaign spokeswoman Katrina Pierson and Lynne Patton, who serves as a top official in the Department of Housing and Urban Development, said Manigault Newman was “obsessed” with the alleged recording of Trump using the N-word on the set of “The Apprentice.”
{mosads}They also insisted they’d been told by the president that he had not used a racial slur for black people, though the tape revealed by Manigault Newman appeared to include conversations in which they acknowledged the language.
No one ever denied we had multiple conversations re: the Apprentice tape. To the contrary my interview w/@HuffPost proves @OMAROSA was obsessed & discussed it constantly. What we refuted is having a call that Luntz CONFIRMED Trump said it. Trump himself confirms to me he didn’t pic.twitter.com/7dscnSUuIw

In the statement, the two said they never had a call confirming that anyone “directly heard Donald J. Trump use derogatory language on this alleged tape.”
“To the contrary, we clearly confirm the fact that President Trump himself denied ever using such derogatory language,” the statement goes on to say. “Finally, none of this changes the fact that Omarosa told multiple high-level Campaign & Administration officials that she first heard the alleged audio tape last December.”
The statement comes hours after CBS News released a recording in which Manigault Newman, Pierson and Patton appear to discuss how to handle the potential fallout from the alleged tape.
The recording appears to be of an internal call during Trump’s 2016 campaign.
While it is unclear from the call whether any of the three women have heard the alleged tape, parts of the discussion suggest that Trump has acknowledged using the racial slur.
“He said — no, he said it. He is embarrassed,” Pierson states in one part of the call released by CBS.
The new recording of the internal campaign conversation is just the latest bombshell dropped by Manigault Newman, the former “Apprentice” contestant who was fired from her job as a White House aide in December. Manigault Newman is hyping a new memoir, and the White House has accused her of making up stories to promote her book.
Manigault Newman has released three recordings of various conversations from her time at the White House or on the campaign, and it is unclear just how much audio she has.
