Wilson also argued that men in particular should not seek to impose limits on abortion as they do not carry children.

“To the men who feel so inclined to tell women what to do, I ask: Have you ever had a menstrual period? Have you felt unbearable pain in every bone of your body during childbirth?”

Wilson was reacting to plans by the House to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which attempts to ban abortions as soon as it is thought unborn fetuses can feel pain. At the last minute, the House Rules Committee added language to that bill creating exceptions to the ban in cases of rape or incest, as long as it is reported to authorities.

But as Wilson indicated, most Democrats are still expected to oppose the bill.
