Hillary Clinton open to ObamaCare changes

Hillary Clinton on Wednesday defended ObamaCare but said she’s open to “evidence-based changes” in the program, according to CNN.

“I think we are on the right track in many respects but I would be the first to say if things aren’t working then we need people of good faith to come together and make evidence-based changes,” she said in remarks to the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society in Orlando, Fla.

Clinton said the problem of small businesses moving full-time workers to part-time status to avoid paying for their healthcare coverage should be addressed.

{mosads}The former first lady and secretary of State said the law’s successes should be the focus.

She applauded the law, for example, for allowing people under the age of 26 to stay on their parents’ healthcare plans.

“Misinformation” about the law, Clinton said, is making it difficult to talk about the law in Washington.

“Part of the challenge is to clear away all the smoke and try to figure out what is working and what isn’t,” Clinton said. “What do we need to do to try to fix this? Because it would be a great tragedy, in my opinion, to take away what has now been provided.”

“This is going to be challenging and I don’t think we should throw the baby out with the bath,” Clinton said about possible reforms.

Clinton, a possible 2016 presidential contender, has been criticized by Republicans for defending President Obama’s healthcare law.
