Fox limits new shows on Hulu to pay-TV subscribers
{mosads}”This development is very unfortunate for consumers and ultimately will be self-destructive for the TV industry. Since its founding, Hulu has been a safe, legal service that allowed all consumers lawful access to TV programming,” said Public Knowledge President Gigi Sohn.
“But instead of promoting and protecting this resource, big media content companies are hobbling it with all sorts of restrictions, causing great confusion among TV watchers and practically inviting consumers to go back to stealing content.”
Previously Fox posted new shows on Hulu the next day for public viewing. Hulu is jointly owned by Fox parent company News Corp., Disney (which owns ABC) and NBC Universal. The broadcasters are currently in the process of selling the service.
