NFL follows Gold to Capitol Counsel

The NFL is following longtime lobbyist Martin Gold to Capitol Counsel, recently filing forms to have the firm lobby on its behalf. 

The Hill first reported Gold’s departure from Covington and Burling to the K Street powerhouse in November, and one of his biggest clients is now making the switch.

{mosads}In 2013, the NFL paid Covington & Burling $410,000 for advocacy services. While the league has four other lobby firms on retainer — including Elmendorf | Ryan, Gephardt Government Affairs and Glover Park Group — Covington had been paid the most historically.

Disclosure forms dated last month say Gold will be working on “issues related to Internet Gambling, sports programming, NFL community relations, and NFL disability and retirement benefits.”
