Trump aide: No requests made for security clearances for Trump children

President-elect Donald Trump has not requested security clearances for his children, a top aide said Wednesday.

{mosads}Jason Miller, Trump’s communications director, denied reports that the Trump team was looking into getting security clearances for his three older children, Donald Jr., Eric and Ivanka, as well as son-in-law Jared Kushner.

“The president-elect has not made any requests for security clearance … not for any of his family members,” Miller told CNN. “No paperwork has been completed or sent in or submitted to this effect.” 

Trump’s children and Kushner served as his top advisers for his presidential campaign and were named to his presidential transition team.

Multiple reports said Trump was interested in applying for security clearances, which would likely give them access to secure communications technology, travel schedules and Secret Service procedures. 

But Miller said any reports that he was applying for security clearances came from people who wanted to cause chaos for the transition team. 

“I think what a lot of this is, again, it is certain folks who are in the outside looking in who want to cause chaos and do their bit to try to make some negative headlines, but that’s not going to distract us,” Miller said. 

Trump also denied the reports Wednesday, calling it a “typically false news story.”
