Report: Kushner and Bannon attempt to smooth things over

Top White House advisers Jared Kushner and Steve Bannon reportedly had a meeting to smooth over the tensions between them after arriving at Mar-a-Lago this week, Politico reported on Friday.

The New York Times additionally reported that, according to two sources briefed on the exchange, President Trump told his top aides to “work this out.”

{mosads}The newspaper reported that Trump’s instruction followed several internal fights between Bannon, Kushner, the top economic adviser Gary D. Cohn, and chief of staff Reince Priebus.

According to Politico, the main source of disagreement between Bannon and Kushner centers around policy differences.

Bannon reportedly criticized Trump’s son-in-law for his moderate politics while Kushner has expressed concern about Bannon’s influence on the president and his fiery style.

Both sides have also accused one another of planting negative stories in the media, according to Politico.

Earlier this week Trump removed Bannon from his role on the National Security Council.

The White House has denied reports of internal strife.

“Once again this is completely false story driven by people who want to distract from the success taking place in this administration,” White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders told the Times. “The President’s pick for the Supreme Court (a decision that has generational impact) was confirmed today, we hosted multiple foreign leaders this week and the President took bold and decisive military action against Syria last night. The only thing we are shaking up is the way Washington operates as we push the President’s aggressive agenda forward.”
