Dem lawmaker: Trump’s Comey tweet is ‘witness intimidation’
Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) on Friday accused President Trump of witness intimidation after Trump tweeted a threat at former FBI Director James Comey.
Connolly called Trump “unhinged” in a message referring to Trump’s Friday tweet that “James Comey better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press.”
“First obstruction of an investigation. Now witness intimidation from the Highest Office,” Connolly tweeted. “A sad moment for even this White House.”

Connolly’s remark about obstruction of justice refers to Trump’s decision Tuesday to fire Comey.
{mosads}Trump revealed to NBC’s Lester Holt on Thursday that the FBI’s investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential election — and whether there was any coordination between Moscow and members of Trump’s campaign — played a role in his decision to fire the FBI chief, despite claims to the contrary from several White House staffers, including Vice President Pence.
