Trump sought to shorten overseas trip to 5 days: report

President Trump asked for his first foreign trip to be shortened from nine to five days, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

The president reportedly had “expressed dread” about the upcoming trip, which will include stops in Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Vatican.

Since assuming office, the president has often visited his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on the weekends but has not yet taken a trip abroad.

The travel comes as the administration is battling several controversies.

{mosads}The Washington Post reported Monday that Trump shared classified intelligence with Russian officials during a meeting last week.

On Tuesday, The New York Times reported that Trump asked former FBI Director James Comey to end a federal investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Comey has been invited by House and Senate committees to testify next week, while Trump will be out of the country.
