Ivanka Trump says social media ’empowers the people’
Ivanka Trump on Sunday filled in for her father at the Tweeps Forum in Saudi Arabia, where she spoke about the power of social media.
“Social media is an incredibly powerful tool. It empowers the people, particularly the next generation. Your generation,” she said, speaking to about 400 people in a ballroom.
Social media has also been a powerful tool for the Trump administration. President Trump regularly takes to Twitter to get his message out to his base and to fire back at negative media reports.

Fox News host Bret Baier introduced the first daughter, who serves as one of her father’s advisors in the White House, noting that the president was unable to appear as he was at Saudi Arabia’s new anti-terrorism center with King Salman.

Ivanka Trump thanked members of the Saudi royal family during her brief remarks and touted the power of social media.
The official website for the event said this year’s forum would “focus on social media and counterterrorism.”
“Tweeps is an interactive forum hosted by Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Philanthropic Foundation (MiSK) that connects young people interested in social media with social media pioneers, to engage in a meaningful discussion about social media topics, and to share creative and positive ideas,” the website reads, referring to the deputy crown prince of Saudi Arabia.
The president earlier Sunday gave a speech in Saudi Arabia, where he urged Muslim nations to drive out extremism.
