Trump to appoint Anthony Scaramucci to Ambassador of OECD: Bloomberg

Anthony Scaramucci, who served as a senior adviser on the Trump transition team, will reportedly be named ambassador to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), a White House official told Bloomberg’s Jennifer Jacobs Thursday.

Scaramucci was once expected to be named the director of the Office of Public Liaison. But after a lengthy review of his business dealings, President Trump passed over Scaramucci and announced his appointment of George Sifakis for the job.

{mosads}Scaramucci previously served as Mitt Romney’s campaign finance co-chairman during Romney’s run for president in 2012. Scaramucci supported Scott Walker and Jeb Bush in the 2016 election, before throwing his support behind Trump.

Scaramucci founded SkyBridge Capital in 2005, which had an estimated $12 billion in assets, according to Business Insider. He then sold the company a few days before Trump’s inauguration in January.

The U.S. and almost three dozen other countries are members of the OECD, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Turkey, Japan, Mexico and Israel. Founded in 1961, the OECD is headquartered in Paris.

The OECD aims to “promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world,” according to its mission statement.
