Trump: Mueller and Sessions should investigate Clinton ties to Russia

President Trump on Saturday tried to redirect the Russia investigation to his former Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.

Several Trump officials and members of his campaign are under investigation for alleged collusion with Russia during Moscow’s attempt to influence the 2016 presidential election.

According to Trump, there are just as many questions about Clinton’s Russia ties, deleted emails and business connections.

In the same series of tweets, the president also brought up former FBI director James Comey, who Trump fired earlier this year. Trump has suggested Comey has suspicious allegiances.

He also claimed his son, Donald Trump Jr., was more transparent than Clinton by releasing a chain of emails that led to Trump Jr.’s private meeting last year with a Russian lawyer who claimed to have damaging information on the Democratic presidential nominee.

As secretary of State, Clinton used a private email server and subsequently many official emails were deleted. Trump has previously suggested Russia might have the missing emails.

“So many people are asking why isn’t the A.G. or Special Council looking at the many Hillary Clinton or Comey crimes,” he wrote on Twitter.

The special counsel, Robert Mueller, was appointed by the Justice Department to lead the federal probe into Russian interference. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has recused himself from the investigation — something Trump recently called “unfair.”
