Trump defends Jeffrey Lord after his firing from CNN

President Trump defended former CNN contributor Jeffrey Lord after he was fired for tweeting a Nazi victory salute.

Trump mentioned Lord, a top Trump surrogate, during his rally in Phoenix while attacking CNN, claiming the network had poor ratings because they had few pro-Trump voices.

{mosads}“Poor Jeffrey,” Trump said at the rally.

“I guess he was getting a little bit fed up and was probably fighting back too hard and they said ‘we gotta get out of here,’ ” Trump said.

Lord was fired by the network earlier this month after he tweeted “Sieg Hiel” at a liberal activist.

The controversial tweet by Lord gained attention after several publications reported it and Carusone took a screenshot and tweeted it at CNN, asking for the network to comment on “on air talent issuing (in serious and non-ironic way) Nazi victory salutes.”

In the opinion piece that eventually led to his ouster from CNN, Lord took issue with a Media Matters campaign to get Fox’s Sean Hannity fired from his network.
