Trump: Hurricane Florence looking ‘bigger than anticipated’
President Trump took to Twitter Wednesday morning to urge Americans to be safe during Hurricane Florence and to tout the preparations of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and first responders.
“Hurricane Florence is looking even bigger than anticipated. It will be arriving soon” he said. “FEMA, First Responders and Law Enforcement are supplied and ready. Be safe!”

{mosads}The tweet was followed up by a video showing Trump praising the administration’s preparation.
“They say it’s about as big as they’ve seen coming to this country and certainly to the East Coast as they’ve ever seen. We’ll handle it, we’re ready, we’re able, we’ve got the finest people, I think, anywhere in the world. FEMA and first responders are out there, they’re going to stand through the danger of the storm,” he said to camera.
“Get out of its way, don’t play games with it. It’s a big one, maybe as big as they’ve seen, and tremendous amounts of water … We’re fully prepared, food, medical, everything you can imagine, we are ready. But despite that, bad things can happen when you’re talking about a storm this size. It’s called Mother Nature, you never know, but we know,” he added.

Florence is currently a Category 4 storm, with winds of at least 130 miles per hour. The National Hurricane Center said Tuesday night that its path had shifted to the south and Florence will likely make landfall in Wilmington, N.C., on Friday before moving to South Carolina.
Trump has declared states of emergency in South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia ahead of the storm, and more than 1.5 million people are under evacuation orders.
