Biden on presidential bid: ‘The honest-to-God answer is that I don’t know’
Former Vice President Joe Biden said late Monday that he doesn’t know whether he will launch a presidential bid in 2020.
“Yes, I think I’m qualified, but that doesn’t mean I should be president or that I will run for president,” Biden told a Salt Lake City audience, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.
“The honest-to-God answer is that I don’t know.”
{mosads}Biden said he wouldn’t be “coy” if he decides to launch a bid.
Biden has previously not ruled out a presidential bid.
“I haven’t decided to run, but I’ve decided I’m not going to decide not to run,” he said in an interview last month
Biden’s latest comments come after Donna Brazile, the former interim chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), wrote in a new book that she considered replacing Hillary Clinton as the party’s presidential nominee in 2016 with Biden.
Brazile wrote that she ultimately decided against the shake-up because she couldn’t upend the campaign of the first woman presidential nominee of a major political party.
“I thought of Hillary, and all the women in the country who were so proud of and excited about her,” she wrote. “I could not do this to them.”
